Orpington College, RNID and Hands On Access have teamed up to offer people the chance to learn how to communicate better with people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The course aims to raise awareness of the issues faced by those who are deaf and hard of hearing in their daily lives.
This training is particularly important for those people who deal with the public as the main part of their jobs, for example telephonists, receptionists, shop assistants, and sales staff. Learning how to communicate more easily with the deaf and hard of hearing can save time and be rewarding for employees and companies alike. The recent Disability Discrimination Act means that it is even more important to increase awareness about these issues.
